The MV Dolphin Queen is a great option for budget liveaboard diving in the Similan Islands and operates 4 night trips to the Similans, Koh Bon and Richelieu Rock. It is an ideal choice for those with limited time or those on a backpacker budget. No other region offers such a number of excellent sites and such wonderful Scuba Diving as can be found in this protected National Park.
What can you expect
M/V Dolphin Queen has a wooden mono hull, comprising of 3 decks. There are range of cabin prices and cabin options and the boat can comfortably accommodate 24 Divers/Guests. All cabins have windows with sea view, are air-conditioned, however there are 3 bathrooms which are shared.
Guests relax in the open air lounge on the Upper Deck and can enjoy the entertainment system including a TV, DVD and CD player. You can also take it easy on the Sun Deck, either soaking up the rays, lazing in the shade, or enjoying a Thai massage. Sun deck chairs and hammocks are available for your pleasure.
The Dolphin Queen is one of the very few low priced Similan liveaboards to offer enriched air Nitrox diving to suitably qualified guests. There are 2 fresh water showers on the Dive Deck so you can rinse the salt water off straight after dives, either here or in 1 of the 3 bathrooms. If money or time are tight and you want to have a few days at the best dive destination that Thailand has to offer, then the Dolphin Queen could be the boat for you.
The Main Deck has 6 cabins, 2 Double bed, 1 Twin Berth and 3 Four Berth cabins. Our twin and 4 berth cabins are fitted with curtains for each bed for the privacy of each guest. All cabins have their own air conditioning and an opening sea view window. Each of our cabins has 220v plug sockets, so you can charge your battery packs or your dive torch.
The upper deck has 2 Double bed cabins, these are our sea front cabins where you are welcomed each morning with a view of the ocean and the islands when you open the cabin door. These are the only cabins where you can switch off the air con and enjoy the cool night's sea breeze.
The wheel house (captains quarters) can be found at the front (bow) of the boat. At the rear (stern) is the Dining area, where you can help yourself to coffee, tea, toast, water, electrolyte drinks and fresh fruit which is always on the table for your convenience.
Meals are served here in buffet style and feature a blend of tasty Western cuisine as well as an array of local Thai dishes
There is an unlimited supply of tea, coffee, soft drinks and fruit, ensuring you never go hungry between dives. Meals are served buffet style in the open air Dining area on the Upper Deck, cooled by gentle sea breezes. The menu consists both of European dishes as well as select local Thai delicacies. The short length of these liveaboard trips means the ingredients are always fresh and there is a ready supply of tropical fruits for all to enjoy. There will be Thai main meal dishes, the food is very popular with our guests. Every morning there is a European style made to order breakfast with a choice of Brown Bread, Omelette, Fried egg, Sausages, Corn Flakes, Muesli, fresh fruit, tea and freshly ground coffee. Buffet-style Thai lunch, on the Upper Deck - choose from 4 main dishes at dinner time. Vegetarian requirements can be catered for. Please send prior notice for us to arrange this. The dining service begins on the first evening of the Cruise with dinner. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, soft drinks, drinking water, fruits, candy bars and biscuits are provided free of charge. Wine and beer are available for purchase.
