My husband + I have just completed a excellent dive trip on the Carpe Novo Liveaboard in the Maldives. The boat was spacious + comfortable, with delicious food . The crew made us feel very welcome + were very helpful getting us ready for the dives. The dive guides were very knowledgeable, + took great care to make sure that we had exciting, but safe, diving. Thanks so much to Rio for giving us such a great diving experience + pointing out so many interesting things. We have done many good liveaboard trips, but this was the best. Jan+Mark Caswell

I went on a 7N 'Best of Maldives' liveaboard with the Carpe Diem boat from the 19 - 26 Apr 2025. It's quite ambivalent for me to leave such a poor review. While Carpe Diem isn't the best liveaboard I've been on, I certainly found the dive masters very professional, albeit not the most personable, the food very nice (I'm vegan and the chef really looked after me during the trip), and the boat spacious, clean, and comfortable. Unfortunately, I've stumbled into an issue with the upper management. During the trip, my laptop was fried (quite literally) when I plugged it into charge on the boat. Of course I spoke to the staff about it, and one of the dive masters even witnessed the smoke come out of the laptop when he asked me to plug in the laptop a second time. Of course I then contacted the everyday manager who told me to get a diagnostic report to confirm whether the damage was due to a power/voltage surge on the boat or an internal laptop issue. If the former was the case, I was told that the company would of course cover the damages. Fair enough. After getting a diagnostic report confirming that it was indeed due to a power/voltage surge on the boat, I was told to get a quote for the repair of the damages. Again, fair enough. After getting three quotes from three different countries (I was in-between places at the time, and the company kept asking me to get new quotes for one reason or another), I was then suddenly told that the company wouldn't cover the damages because they haven't experienced the issue before (what happened to one time has to be the first) 🤯 So, after 2+ months of being sent in different directions, not having a laptop, and being promised to have the damages covered, the company backtracked. I should mention that the company repeatedly offered me a voucher for my next liveaboard, which I respectfully declined each time, stating that I'm not in a position to go to the Maldives to do another liveaboard anytime soon, and that it's more important for me to get the damages covered. I'm incredibly disappointed and frustrated with the course of events and broken promise by the upper management, which obviously taints my experience and thoughts on the liveaboard and the company as a whole.

Our family, my husband, our 15-year-old son, and I, just wrapped up an extraordinary two-week liveaboard dive experience in the Maldives, spending one week aboard Carpe Vita and the second aboard Carpe Novo. Both boats delivered beyond our expectations, and we’re still buzzing from the memories. The crew were nothing short of phenomenal. Always smiling, endlessly helpful, and genuinely caring, they made us feel safe, supported, and completely at home. From dive guides to kitchen staff, every person onboard contributed to an atmosphere of joy and professionalism. We can’t thank them enough. Every meal was a delight, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether it was hearty breakfasts, satisfying lunches, or indulgent dinners, the culinary team kept us well-fed and happy. Even our teenager was impressed, which is saying something! We felt completely secure throughout the trip. Dive briefings were clear and thorough, gear checks were consistent, and the crew’s attention to detail was impeccable. Their commitment to safety allowed us to relax and fully enjoy the underwater magic. The dive sites were world-class. We encountered an astonishing variety of marine life, schools of vibrant fish, graceful manta rays, curious octopuses, and an exhilarating lineup of sharks, including a majestic tiger shark. And then came the grand finale: on our very last day, we snorkeled and dove with three whale sharks. It was a breathtaking, emotional experience that none of us will ever forget. To the entire crew of Carpe Vita and Carpe Novo: thank YOU for making this journey SO special. Your warmth, professionalism, and passion for the ocean made this trip unforgettable. We’re deeply grateful, and already dreaming of our return. Hopefully SOON! 🙏🏻

Carpe Vita delivered on all fronts— whale sharks, mantas, sharks, macro life. We stayed in room 1&2 (top deck) and room + bathroom was very spacious. Staff was attentive and courteous. The best part of the trip was our dive master— Naathi! I had a not so great dive in Raja Ampat and was anxious about the trip. Naathi made me feel confident and comfortable underwater, even when there was strong current and low viz. Ive rediscovered my love for diving. He’s a grand master at finding all the sea creatures and making bubble rings.
