Safari Diving is directly on the beach of Playa Chica. The dive centre is just a few steps away from famous dive sites such as Cathedral, Blue Hole and Harbour wrecks.

Safari Diving is an ideal place to try diving for the first time or to learn to dive, with clear and shallow water on a sheltered reef directly in front of the diving school. We offer diving courses for all levels. The house reef is also very suitable for follow-up courses such as Advanced, Rescue and specialty courses with its extensive range of deep reef dives, drift dives and wreck dives. At Safari Diving you can do a course in English, Dutch, German, Spanish, French, Polish and Italian.

The combination with our dive centre in Playa Blanca is perfect to discover the must-see dive sites in both resorts including the underwater sculpture museum Museo Atlántico. Our professional and friendly staff will welcome you and make sure you will go home with special memories of your diving experience with Safari Diving!

Requirements

  • Minimum age: 10+
  • Min. certification: None
  • Min logged dives: None
  • No prior experience with scuba diving is required. You must be in good physical health and be able to float for 10 minutes and swim 200 m unaided and without stopping.

What to expect

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases. The first is Knowledge Development, which covers everything you need to know about basic techniques, terminology and safety procedures in scuba diving. The second is Confined Water Dives, which are training sessions conducted in a pool or water with pool-like conditions. They give you the opportunity to get used to the gear you'll be using and practice the basic skills of diving and techniques to keep you safe. The third is your Open Water Dives. This is what it's all about - you'll make your first dives in the ocean! During four dives, you'll perform various skills under water and on the surface to make sure you're a safe and competent diver. The training portion usually only takes up the first part of the dive, meaning that you will get to spend a big part of your time diving with your instructor and exploring the underwater world. As soon as your open water training dives are approved by your instructor you will be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver! This means you will be allowed to rent diving equipment and dive anywhere in the world down to 18 meters, lifelong!
