Get your PADI Open Water certification with Fins Scuba and see the wondrous world beneath the waves. We can’t wait to help you get started on your journey to a lifetime of adventure and exploration!
The course consists of three main phases.
The first is Knowledge Development, which covers everything you need to know about basic techniques, terminology, and safety procedures in scuba diving. You'll complete this digitally using PADI's eLearning system. Start learning immediately with the PADI Open Water Diver eLearning which allows you to learn independently at your own pace at home. Read, interact, watch, and self-assess, if you have any questions as you learn just contact Fins Scuba for support.
The second is Confined Water Dives, which are training sessions conducted in a pool. They give you the opportunity to get used to the gear you'll be using and practice the basic skills of diving and techniques to keep you safe. The Four pool sessions are taken on a Wednesday evening meeting at 7.30pm. Pool time 7:45pm – 9:10pm.
The third is your Open Water Dives. This is what it's all about - you'll make four open water dives to complete the course over two days. This is usually at a local inland dive site, formerly a limestone quarry is now a freshwater lake training site with plenty on offer to explore and see with many wrecks (boats, planes, helicopters etc) and for those who prefer creatures to craft, the fishy population includes trout, perch, roach, pike, and sturgeon. Usually, the dives are conducted at weekends, meeting at approximately 8.30am and returning late afternoon but we can take you out mid-week as well. During your four dives, you'll perform various skills under water and on the surface to make sure you're a safe and competent diver. As soon as your open water training dives are approved by your instructor you will be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver! As a PADI Open Water Diver, you’ll be trained to a maximum depth of 18 metres/60 feet and are qualified to dive in conditions as good as, or better than, those in which you trained. It’s just the beginning of a lifetime filled with dive adventures.
We look forward to hearing from you soon and can’t wait to help you get started on your journey to a lifetime of adventure!
