Maltaqua was founded in 1970 by Mike and Agnes Upton, both CMAS National Instructors, PADI Staff Instructors and BSAC Advanced Instructors who have both logged thousands of dives since they started diving in 1968. Both are teachers by profession so diver training has always been of particular interest to them. 2006 - Awarded BSAC School of Excellence status. One of only 4 such schools outside the UK. Maltaqua is also a UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) approved diver training centre

In the 55 years that Maltaqua has been one of Europe's leading dive bases it has serviced tens of thousands of clients and trained thousands of divers and hundreds of highly skilled instructors. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health.

What to expect

A fun afternoon getting to use Scuba equipment, in one of our beautiful shallow bays.
We meet at the dive centre to get you fitted out with the correct sized scuba equipment.
After a short explanation, we drive out to one of our shallow bays, kit up and enter the sea.
Your Instructor will start the session by teaching you some basis techniques which will help you get comfortable in the water.
Once perfected your Instructor will then lead you further out to around 8 meters to observe and enjoy Malta's marine life.
