The PADI Scuba Diver course is a subset of the PADI Open Water Diver course. If you’re short on time but want to become a diver, the PADI Scuba Diver could be for you ̶ particularly if you expect to go scuba diving primarily with a dive guide.

PADI Scuba Divers are trained to dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional to a maximum depth of 12 metres/40 feet.

You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required, but you can try it first through the Discover Scuba® Diving program.

What to expect

The course is conducted on one day. The knowledge development is completed online before arrive in Coron. You'll learn the basic principles of scuba diving, including equipment, diving physics, physiology, and safety procedures. The in-water training sessions start with confined water training. You will practice essential scuba skills, such as buoyancy control, regulator use, mask clearing, and emergency procedures. Then we do two Open Water Dives where you apply the skill learned in the confined water sessions.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a PADI Scuba Diver certification card. This certification allows you to dive under the supervision of a PADI professional to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet).

The PADI Scuba Diver certification is a stepping stone to the PADI Open Water Diver. If you decide to continue your scuba diving education, you can easily upgrade to the PADI Open Water Diver certification, which allows for more independent diving and deeper depths.
