Matava places a lot of importance on Fijian community and is a wonderful place to learn about traditions and culture. The resort partners with local beekeepers and splits the honey 50/50 to benefit all involved, and there's an organic farm and orchard on site. Visit schools, sample the local drink made from the root of a pepper plant or join a local medicine man on a plantation walk to learn the healing properties of plants.

The 5* PADI center on site dives the Great Astrolabe Barrier Reef extensively and caters for all levels of diver. The reef is regarded as one of the best in the world for its marine diversity and clear visibility. The Manta Reef dive - a feeding station for manta rays - is easily accessible from here too. End your dives and treks with a warm foot soak in fragrant coconut milk bath at the onsite spa.
