Explore diving around the Two Fish Divers Bunaken

What to see

If it’s weird, you are likely to find it in the Lembeh Strait. Top critters on every diver and photographers wish list include the mimic octopus, Wonderpus, Rhinopias, flamboyant cuttlefish, Ambon scorpionfish, harlequin shrimp, and the very entertaining hairy frogfish. If lucky, you might also come across the delicate Lembeh Sea Dragon. Also, be boggled by the wide array of nudibranch and during night dives, look out for stargazers in the sand and Spanish dancers passing by in the darkness.

At areas like Bunaken and the nearby Bangka, dolphins or pilot whales can sometimes be seen from the surface. Underwater, expect green sea turtles, schools of trevally and colorful reef fish along the many walls. Bangka and Manado Tua also feature a myriad of critters.

If you dive around the Sangihe Archipelago and Talaud Islands, the healthy reefs and volcanic activity yield many colorful reef fish and schools of fusilier, snapper and predators like trevally, barracuda and Dogtooth tuna. Macro life is also abundant and there are pygmy seahorses, crabs and shrimp as well as nudibranch to find at muck dive sites. Look out for pelagic animals which come to feed and clean like manta rays, sharks and even hammerhead sharks.

Dive Center

  • Two Fish Bunaken Dive Center has offered local diving for over 15 years
  • Small groups organised according to air consumption and experience
  • Long dives: you’ll only be asked to surface after 75 minutes or 40bar
  • Some divers have reported seeing up to six turtles on dives
  • Local Manado Wreck is a 60m WWII wreck

The Two Fish Bunaken Dive Center is a purpose-built building located directly in the resort and steps away from the beach.

All must-see dive sites are about 10 minutes from the center, which is well-situated to explore the beautiful tropical ecosystems of the Bunaken Marine National Park.

The center is ideal for wreck divers or those seeking to do their wreck diving speciality: the Manado Wreck sunk in WWII and is now home to a host of marine life. For less-advanced divers, the area offers stunning sloping reefs to explore.

Dive groups are limited to four people per guide, organised to reflect air consumption and experience, giving divers more control over what they want to see and do. Divers are only asked to surface after 75 minutes or 40 bar. A well-stocked dive shops is on hand for your needs.

Resort Description

Two Fish Divers Bunaken offers guests attractive wooden cottages and rooms set in gardens, right next to the beach.

The resort caters to a maximum of 24 divers in double or twin-bedroomed accommodation, all of which have fans and an en-suite bathroom.

Guests benefit from an 18m swimming pool, 24 hour electricity, running hot showers and a beach cafe with cold drinks available. All guests get free coffee, team and drinking water for the duration of their trip. There's also free wifi for all and a book swap facility for relaxation.

Most local dive sites are within a 10 minute trip from the resort, making it a great base for divers, who get three good-quality meals per day when they stay at Two Fish Divers Bunaken.

How to get there

  • The closest airport is Manado (MDC) and the resort is about 45 minutes by car from the airport to the harbour, then 45 minutes by boat to the resort.
  • There are many daily flights from other Indonesian cities such as Bali and Jakarta.
  • If you are flying internationally, then the best option is to fly direct from Singapore to Manado with Silk Air, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines.
  • Two Fish Divers will arrange your speedboat transfers for you, including a driver to pick you up from the airport (advance notice required, additional cost).
  • It is important that once booked, you read the instructions we send you carefully. These are available to make sure you know where to meet your driver and dont face any delays in reaching your speedboat.
  • If you arrive late in the day, you may need to stay over in Lombok for one night (we can help you arrange this - just let us know!). The last speedboats set off at 4pm.

  • Boat transfers from Bunaken to Manado are scheduled at 9:30am.
