Explore diving around the Two Fish Divers Lembeh

What to see

If it’s weird, you are likely to find it in the Lembeh Strait. Top critters on every diver and photographers wish list include the mimic octopus, Wonderpus, Rhinopias, flamboyant cuttlefish, Ambon scorpionfish, harlequin shrimp, and the very entertaining hairy frogfish. If lucky, you might also come across the delicate Lembeh Sea Dragon. Also, be boggled by the wide array of nudibranch and during night dives, look out for stargazers in the sand and Spanish dancers passing by in the darkness.

At areas like Bunaken and the nearby Bangka, dolphins or pilot whales can sometimes be seen from the surface. Underwater, expect green sea turtles, schools of trevally and colorful reef fish along the many walls. Bangka and Manado Tua also feature a myriad of critters.

If you dive around the Sangihe Archipelago and Talaud Islands, the healthy reefs and volcanic activity yield many colorful reef fish and schools of fusilier, snapper and predators like trevally, barracuda and Dogtooth tuna. Macro life is also abundant and there are pygmy seahorses, crabs and shrimp as well as nudibranch to find at muck dive sites. Look out for pelagic animals which come to feed and clean like manta rays, sharks and even hammerhead sharks.

Dive Center

Two Fish Divers Lembeh offers personalised and long-established diving around the Lembeh Straits.

As the muck diving capital of the world, take some time to trawl through the sandy volcanic ocean floor looking for clownfish, crinoid shrimps, pipefish, harlequin shrimp, cuttlefish, snake eels and hairy frogfish. In the scattered patches of sponges and reef you may spot a pygmy seahorse or mimic octopus.

All on-site accommodation is within a two minute walk of the dive center, with the traditional wooden diving boats moored on the resort's private beach. The dive center reception has a small shop, stocking accessories and gear. The center also provides gear in all sizes to rent. Dive sites are only 5 minutes from the resort and you can expect sea temperatures of 26C and visibility of 10-15m.

Resort Description

Two Fish Lembeh is tucked away on a private beach on the tropical island of Lembeh.

Set in its own exclusive bay, the dive center, shop, café and cottage guest rooms all come with peaceful views of the bay and the tropical mountains beyond.

Cottages come with spacious, private verandas and there are post-dinner activities availabile including darts and fish ID books to peruse in the café. Food is diverse and suitable for all palates, with fish, chicken, eggs, meat as well as tofu and tempeh on offer.

The Lembeh Strait offers year-round diving teeming with macro life, including hairy frog fish, pygmy seahorse and mimic octopus. The wider island receives just 25,000 international arrivals a year, making this an ideal location for relaxation and relaxed diving. The warm seas offer average visibility of 10-15m and most dive sites can be reached within 10 minutes.

How to get there

  • Transfer hours are between 8am and 3pm. When booking a flight into Manado Airport (Sam Ratulangi International Airport MDC) please try to get a flight that arrives at Manado before 3pm so there is a chance to transfer you directly into the island.
  • Two Fish Divers will arrange your speedboat transfers for you, including a driver to pick you up from the airport (advance notice required, additional cost).
  • It is important that once booked, you read the instructions we send you carefully. These are available to make sure you know where to meet your driver and dont face any delays in reaching your speedboat.
  • If you arrive late in the day, you may need to stay over in Lombok for one night (we can help you arrange this - just let us know!). The last speedboats set off at 4pm.
  • It takes 90 minutes by car from the airport to Bitung Harbor, then a 5-10 minute boat ride to the resort.

  • Once you have checked out at reception you can catch a 5-10 minute boat ride to Bitung Harbour between the hours of 8am and 5pm.
  • Alternatively, a transfer to the international airport can be arranged for an additional fee. Allow 2hrs for a transfer from the hotel to the international airport.
