Travel Resources

Indonesia has introduced a health check requirement to enter the country.
This is related to the MPox virus.
Please see the below link for more information and the steps that you will need to take.
It is a simple questionnaire which generates a QR code which you should screen shot and save as you need to show to an official on arrival into Indonesia.
Please, complete this after check in from your own country (or whichever country you are travelling to Indonesia from) as it requires your flight seat number.

Will never forget the wonderful time I had at this resort 😎
Will never forget the wonderful time I had at this resort 😎
Had an amazing stay at this privately owned resort. The staff are very professional, courteous, friendly and go out of their way to please everyone. Still want to know the secret to how they remember everyone name??? Special thanks to Willy, Adi and Pasek The bungalows are well kept. The bed and pillows are so comfortable. No complaints about accommodations. The restaurant food is so delicious. Tried many foods that I have never eaten before and couldn’t believe how tasty everything was. Commend the chef and restaurant staff on a job well done! The snorkeling 🤿 is out of this world. The coral 🪸 is very healthy and I saw many fish I have never seen before. This resort will not disappoint, so don’t wait too long to book as the bungalows sell out fast. Sometimes need to book a year in advance.

Wakatobi Dive Resort - Have seen once in a lifetime
Wakatobi Dive Resort - Have seen once in a lifetime
After a couple of nights at St. Regis in Bali we took the trip to Wakatobi. Wakatobi Dive Resort has its own check-in area in the Domestic area from Bali Airport. Staff at Wakatobi are already waiting in the check-in area and assist guests with check-in. Afterwards we will be accompanied to breakfast before we took a chartered Wings Air ATR72 on the approximately 2 1/2-hour flight to the private airfield from Waktobi. Afterwards we were driven by private vehicles to the port where the Wakatobi ships took us to the resort in about 30 minutes. We were warmly welcomed by the Wakatobi team and a private "butler" was introduced to us. We have booked the 2 bedroom villa with private pool. Simple furnished but everything you need. The pool is huge and start splashing around after diving. Everything is super organized and paradise for divers and snorkelers. Since we had a villa, we had a private dive guide and a private snorkel guide available all the time. There are 3 dives per day and occasionally an additional night dive. Teams are formed according to preferences and diving experience, which then dive together all the time. Also, you always have the same boat. The diving equipment is brought to the boat daily by the staff and cleaned and dried at the end. You don't have to worry about anything. I haven't seen anything so great in my long diving career underwater. The diversity and wildlife is unique. It's alive and the colors are just fantastic. The dive sites can all be reached within 1 hour and after 2 dives the boats will go back to the resort. D.h. You don't always have to do all 3 dives. There is breakfast, lunch and dinner. After 2 dives you will drive back to the resort to have lunch. Also the kitchen and service staff is just great and exceptional. The kitchen has star level and the service staff super friendly and you are addressed by the name from the first second. We didn't have that. The Waktobi Dive Resort must be experienced as a diver and snorkeler, otherwise you will miss something. Unrestrictedly recommended.

The Wakatobi Way is to Exceed Expectations
The Wakatobi Way is to Exceed Expectations
It’s hard to write a review because I feel that I have so much to say! The Wakatobi way is to exceed expectations, as we soon discovered. It all begins when you land at the airport. It doesn’t matter how many days before your time at Wakatobi, they have a dedicated team at the airport to make sure that you are off to a smooth start. Our greeter took us all the way to the airport hotel. I’m not sure that after 24 hours of travel we would have found it easily on our own (we had to go thru a parking lot)! I’ll skip over how flawless the day begins when you depart for the resort. Let’s say that they have thought of everything. Upon arrival in Tomea, the seamless experience continues with a line of cabs that quickly dispatch you to the boat which brings you to the resort. We all go for the diving and snorkeling, so I won’t spend time describing the accommodations. The daily and weekly schedules are posted and all the gear is organized so that one just heads for the assigned boat. We were at Wakatobi over the slow season on February when there were less than 20 guests in residence. A few times, my husband or my husband and I were the only ones on the boat with our own dive guide. Over the two weeks we were there we had one primary guide and also experienced three others which was a plus, as everyone has their own little specialty. Ismael, our main guide was fantastic and very attentive to our needs, providing us with an excellent dive experience. Yono, the most senior DM is a gentle and happy soul who on our solo trip made it a bit more special. Novie is always has a smile and found some newly laid clownfish eggs in the anemome for us We learned that the owner of Wakatobi has agreements and or relationships with over nine local villages. In many ways, the resort has helped to support these local villages. One example is that they brought ielectricity to each home in the most nearby one, Through a series of cooperative agreements with communities , many miles of reefs are protected from the destructive fishing practices that have occurred in other places, including dynamiting, net fishing and cyanide. It’s not just the relative isolation that has allowed the reefs to thrive, but an ongoing vigilance to these rules. As a result some of the hard reef structures are truly majestic, and are hundreds of years old! The variety of reef fish are mind blowing and on every dive we found or saw something new. Usually, when I leave a resort and I fill out the what can be improved form, I run out of space. It’s the first time ever that I left it blank. The facility is run like a Swiss clock, maybe because the GM is Swiss? It’s a flawless operation where they are quick to solve a problem and offer a solution. Frankly, this hardly happens as they seem to have anticipated very thing and worked out any kinks. I think it speaks to the Wakatobi experience that there are so many repeat guests. One person I befriended had been there eight times and was diving 4 times a day. She traveled alone all the way from the US and is, like myself, a senior citizen. It’s because she knew, as did the other repeat guests, that she would be absolutely taken care of by the staff. Everyone is! The amount of staff (maybe 150) are dedicated to the resort and customer experience. Oh, and the fellow Ibram who runs the dining room worked at the Four Seasons for many years (forgot which one) and has brought his experience and training to the staff. Our visit ended with the team waving off us at the end of the pier. We hope to return!

Plastic garbage floating around
Plastic garbage floating around
The stay was very good, but in the sea, there was rubbish floating, this was a shame, I want it to be a beautiful Wakatobi forever! It was a journey I really hoped for.

Wakatobi is a jewel.
Wakatobi is a jewel.
There are really no words to describe the incredible experience of a Wakatobi visit, but I'll give it a try. From the moment you arrive in the Bali airport to begin your charter flight to Wakatobi, where everything is anticipated and cared for. We were met by an ambassador who helped with the flight check-in, taken to a cafe for a leisurely breakfast and then escorted to the departure gate for our charter flight. Upon arrival, we were met at the private airport to be taken to the resort. I was initially struck by the elegant simplicity of the airstrip and buildings, very happy to see that a fire truck and personnel were in attendance 'just in case'. See? Every detail is attended to. We were taken to the boat for transport to the resort: a large, wooden boat, the style of which reminded me of Hong Kong junks of years gone by. We were met and introduced to our personal "concierge" who escorted us to our building, explaining everything we needed to know with a smile. Now, the diving: Sublime Supreme Beautiful Varied Well cared for. Our concierge Mali was also our dive guide, and he had an Etch a Sketch and a pointer so we were always aware of what we could see. Brilliant. The snacks on board the dive boat were in plastic containers with individual names affixed to the top. Each person had a different snack according to their dietary preference. The house reef is magnificent. There are attendants to keep an eye out for you just in case. At the end of the jetty is a lovely cafe for outdoor, happy hour drinks while watching the magnificent sunset. The food in the dining room is beautifully presented, well prepared, varied and superb. We miss the chef! If you have a special request, it is honored when possible. If you have special dietary needs, they are attended to. You can also dine outside, under the trees, for a romantic repast. Ditto for dining in your bungalow. The grounds are just lovely. An artist rakes sand designs throughout the grounds every day. It was a shame to step on them! Not to worry: new and different ones appeared the next day. The outdoor shower was an instant hit. After a "hard day" of exploring underwater phenomena, returning to the bungalow to take a hot shower outside is just a joy. Shall I mention the pillow art? Every day there was a new pillow animal made from bath towels. Our favorite was the monkey hanging from a clothes hanger at the end of the canopy bed. Brilliant. The staff? Everyone was kind, respectful, helpful and cheerful. We were always greeted by first name. The dining room staff couldn't have been more attentive or well trained. The office staff, nurse and grounds attendants were excellent. The boutique? We did some shopping for souvenirs, such as jewelry, t shirts, shorts and postcards, which they mailed for us. The attendant made several trips to the storage area to find different sizes and colors of items for us. All in all, we can't wait to go back. It is an elegant and lovely place, truly a jewel.
