We had a nice stay but many things could be improved
We had a nice stay but many things could be improved
Even though I specifically asked via email beforehand and was told the pools, restaurants and beach were open, the Olympic size swimming pool was closed the whole time and only two out of the four restaurants were open. We had access to the beach but no umbrellas or sunbeds yet. Apparently that was municipal decision though. The family room was far from being four star quality, no water cooker, no ironing board, very old bathroom appliances. Also lovely terrace but no view, neither the sea nor the Etna. If you want a view you need to get a room in the main building, not the villas. The room was clean though, and made up every day. I would definitely recommend insisting on an upper floor family room, as they have terraces and the downstairs ones only have a tiny table on the walk-through path. If you book breakfast only, you have to pay €2 per day for pool towels and other extra costs, the reception staff is not particularly friendly. In total the entire location is very pretty though, access to the beach is beautiful and the pools are clean and the breakfast is not fancy but decent. Location is at the far end of Naxos, a lot further from Taormina than the centre. You need to be prepared for very long walks or take a car.

It was a very nice holiday, gladly again. Naxos as a base in the east of Sicily I can only recommend (a sweet little place on the beach with many recommended restaurants, from which you can very easily and quickly make day trips to all the surrounding cities such as Taormina, Messina, Catania, Syracuse, Noto, etc. and into nature). The hotel complex is beautiful with many orange and lemon trees and our room in one of the villas was spacious, pretty, quiet and overlooking the sea. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. A special highlight was the sporting offer. There are two paddleball courts, a tennis court and football field, table football, billiards and table tennis (the Olympic pool and beach access were unfortunately not open at this time of year) and our time in the hotel we spent mainly trying everything out, but especially with tennis lessons with Coach Philippo, who besides being a good tennis coach (he took my husband from a complete beginner to an almost-in-a-match level in two weeks) is also just a good soul and even spoke for us in Italian when we couldn't get anywhere with English. We can also highly recommend the pizza restaurant on the premises. The extremely good reviews of the hotel restaurant I can only partially understand. I would do the holiday exactly the same again!

The hotel was quite run down, and could be renovated. All of the beach and pool facilities were closed despite sunny weather (c.20 degree Celsius). This was quite a shame as this was part of the reason we had booked the hotel. If we had been made aware when booking we probably would have booked another hotel. The cleanliness of the rooms could be improved. When checking into the room, the supposedly ‘clean’ set of towels had bloodstains on them… Another point I want to flag, is that the photos of the rooms they show on their website seem quite heavily doctored. In reality the room did not look like what we had seen online. Therefore I would recommend looking at the review / past guest photos before booking. The only positive of the hotel is the shuttle going from the hotel to Taormina, which was quite convenient as the public bus service is quite unreliable.

Another great visit at Una
We stayed at the Una for two weeks in the main hotel. This hotel is kept pristine. I agree with some reviews that it is an older hotel but I would argue that it is maintained well. The rooms are well equipped,but maybe take your own hairdryer , but this is often the case that it's attached to the bathroom wall. The staff are incredible from Reception through to restaurant (Nunzio and his team) and Lorenzo ( entertainment). Bar staff were always fun and helpful , Loredana, Salv C and Giuseppe. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay. Food here is Italian! We stayed all inclusive and ate well every night. If you are looking for chips, or traditional English options this may not be the hotel for you, as the hotel keeps to the culture. We loved the range of pastas and food options. Swimming pool area was spotless, lots of sunbeds and the beach had bed availability also. What makes this hotel 4 star is the staff!

Nice and neat park, reception could be better
We had two rooms of the detached cottages. Neat and good cleaning. In the rooms unfortunately no possibility to make tea or coffee. But a fridge (don't know if it was in the apartment buildings) friendly staff in restaurants. breakfast was good. 1 x buffet also participated okay big choice. Only flaw we found the reception, not really friendly and far too winig information. There was more attention for the large groups than for the fam visitors.
