Description

With only a handful of resorts in the Lhaviyani Atoll, Prodivers Komandoo enjoys a prime location in one of the most abundant atolls in the Maldives.

Komandoo was the third Prodivers dive center to be opened in the Maldives and the second one in the Lhaviyani Atoll. The team of Komandoo offers divers and snorkellers the chance to either begin their underwater adventures, or to pursue new activities that enhance their abilities and experience.

Daily trips and courses on request cater for beginners and experienced divers alike. Diving around Komandoo is unique and is some of the best that the Maldives offers. Countless drop offs, beautiful protected reefs full of life and colour and access to a large number of channels for those seeking bigger fish action.

50+ dive sites are within 40 minutes' drive and give you the chance to see grey reef sharks, manta rays, turtles, eagle rays, nurse sharks, soft corals and large schools of colourful reef fish. 

Scooter diving and training for it is available on request. The team offer a full range of PADI recreational courses in 5 languages. 

The dive boats are spacious fiberglass Speed-Dhonis; washroom amenities and refreshments are provided on board.

Resort Description

Komandoo Island Resort & Spa is an intimate adults-only retreat set on its own private island in the heart of Lhaviyani Atoll, surrounded by turquoise lagoons, white sand beaches, and vibrant coral reefs.

Measuring approximately 500 metres long and 200 metres wide, the island offers a peaceful and romantic atmosphere designed for couples seeking privacy, relaxation, and authentic Maldivian beauty.

Accessible via a scenic 40-minute seaplane transfer from Velana International Airport, the resort combines laid-back island charm with upscale comfort. Guests can enjoy an outdoor pool, fitness centre, two bars, two restaurants, a renowned dive centre, and a tranquil spa focused on wellness and rejuvenation.

The resort’s 65 wooden villas blend naturally into the tropical surroundings and feature elegant interiors, four-poster beds, private verandas, and stunning Indian Ocean views. Selected villas also include private Jacuzzis or direct lagoon access via private staircases, creating an even more exclusive overwater experience.

As the island’s only resort, Komandoo offers a unique balance of seclusion, luxury, and immersion in nature. Wi-Fi is available throughout most of the island, allowing guests to stay connected while still enjoying the serenity of this adults-only paradise.

The waters surrounding Lhaviyani Atoll are renowned for their rich marine biodiversity and excellent drift diving conditions. Divers and snorkelers can encounter turtles, reef sharks, barracuda, lionfish, angelfish, oriental sweetlips, triggerfish, and seasonal manta rays among healthy coral reefs and dramatic underwater landscapes.

How to get there

Arrival

  • Upon arrival at Velana International Airport (Terminal 1), guests will be greeted by a CCR representative outside the Arrival Hall.
  • Guests will then be escorted to the Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) check-in counter located at Gate 4. Guests who prefer may also walk directly to Gate 4 independently. Assistance is additionally available at CCR Counter B9 in Terminal 2.
  • From there, guests will take the final leg of the journey to Komandoo Island Resort & Spa by shared seaplane transfer, which takes approximately 40 minutes.
  • Please note that same-day seaplane transfers are only possible for international flights arriving in time to reach the TMA check-in counter before 16:00, as seaplanes operate only during daylight hours.
  • The seaplane luggage allowance is 20 kg of checked luggage and 5 kg of hand luggage per person. Excess luggage is charged at approximately USD 5 per kg plus applicable taxes. In exceptional circumstances and according to Maldivian aviation safety regulations, luggage may be transported on a later flight.

 

Departure

  • After check-out, resort staff will assist guests with their luggage and transfer arrangements.
  • A shared TMA seaplane transfer will depart directly from the island’s jetty to Velana International Airport. The earliest seaplane connections are scheduled to accommodate international departures from approximately 09:00 onward, while the final seaplane departure from the island is around 15:00.
  • Upon arrival in Malé, guests will be transferred by vehicle between the TMA terminal and Velana International Airport.
