Sava Dunes Lodge

Sava Dunes Lodge is a secluded eco-retreat perched on the golden dunes of the Barra Peninsula in southern Mozambique.

Fully off-grid and solar-powered, it offers a rare blend of rustic charm and understated luxury. With only five sea-facing villas, guests enjoy a sense of complete seclusion, never sharing the lodge with more than a handful of fellow travelers.

Each villa features a private deck, daybed, and outdoor shower, designed to capture the cool sea breezes and panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Meals are prepared with fresh local produce and seafood sourced directly from nearby fishermen and markets, served in a relaxed ocean-view setting.

From July to September, guests can watch humpback whales migrate along the coast, while year-round diving and snorkeling at the nearby PADI 5 Star dive center reveal Mozambique’s vibrant marine life.

Arrival

• The closet airport is Inhambane Airport.
• The lodge is 25km from the arport, the last 4 km of which is a sand track and only accessible with 4×4 vehicles.
• There are direct flights available from Maputo to Inhambane, and Vilanculos which is located 4 hours away from Inhambane.
• A transfer from Inhambane or Vilanculos airport can be organized for an additional charge (advance notice required).
• The lodge is not sign-posted.
