Tilak Lodge

We had such an amazing time at Tilak Lodge. The place is stunning, the rooms are super comfortable and the staff is really friendly and nice. The lodge has a perfect location and it’s right in front of the beach. We had booked previously for another hotel nearby where we had a terrible experience, but fortunately after the first night we decided to change and stay at Tilak Lodge and that was, for sure, the best decision we had. Thank you so much to the owners for understanding our situation and for making sure we were welcome here 🙏🏻😊

I’ve just got back from 3 weeks at Tilak Lodge and i can honestly say, as a seasoned traveller to Mozambique, this is by far the best lodge I’ve stayed at. The owners Brodie and Danny arranged all my transfers and went above and beyond with aiding me with bookings I had in Kruger after I left. The immaculate grounds are beautifully kept with a wide array of local fauna and of course numerous coconut trees. Their large en-suite, air-conditioned rooms were very comfortable and cleaned daily and they even offer a laundry service (which I found extremely helpful as I was here for 3 weeks) and they restocked your coffee/tea etc as needed but my favourite part of my time here was the beautiful sunset and sunrise views of the Indian Ocean and mangroves from their beach bar. I shall definitely be back

From the moment our plane landed we felt attended to (a personal taxi ride, who swung by an ATM and a grocery store), this continued through to the end of our stay! We were greeted by Brodie and her team and then led through a tour with the final stop being our beautiful room (filled with the most thoughtful touches, clear attention to detail, and curation of beautiful aesthetics). We slept there one night (in very comfortable and clean beds!) and immediately doubled the length of our stay. Brodie and her team went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable - from staff making sure we had enough to eat and drink, to the Tofo Scuba staff organizing for us to do an (INCREDIBLE) ocean safari (right after whale sharks were spotted!), to Brodie making sure we knew all the local spots. Walking the beach to town is one of the most beautiful 15 minutes walks you’ll take, every time we turned to each other with “pinch me” glares. There are plenty of tasty restaurants (Sumi was a highlight) and shopping (Dathonga!) to keep us busy, outside of swimming in Tilak’s pool, exploring the ocean with Tofo Scuba, and lounging in our A/C filled room. When we wanted to be a little lazier we would eat at Tilak and it was easy, tasty, and we had beautiful views of both the sunset and the ocean! We’ve already recommended this place to our local loved ones and will be back anytime we are in Tofo!

I don't recommend Tilak lodge because : -there is rats (a lot) and big spiders in the rooms/Beds. -No wifi (never worked) -Hot water running out once or twice a week for at least one day. -The nets let the mosquitos in (a lot). -The owners are ignoring requests or respond in an aggressive way. What I liked: -The staff members are really nice and helpful. -It's clean.

A friend and I just spent two weeks at Tilak Lodge, also diving at Tofo Scuba. We had an exceptional time, as Brodie and Dan took fantastic care of us. The lodge was comfortable, everything worked well, the food was tasty, the views of the beach and sunrise were lovely, and Brodie helped arrange everything (diving, snorkeling, transport, PCR tests, etc.). All of the staff members were friendly and helpful. It was so nice to be so well taken care of after having done a lot of independent travel. And they offer discounts if you stay and dive with them, which was superb! We saw several whale sharks and so many mantas! Also, just in general, Tofo was so safe, and there were some nice restaurants when we wanted to mix things up. I'm really sad to be leaving, as it definitely became a home away from home. Hopefully I can return someday.
