Dive along a dramatic vertical drop-off that plunges into an abyss. Drift along the coral covered wall teaming with marine life. Explore the awe-inspiring cavern called the Pescador Cathedral.
This boat dive is offered several times a week. We meet at the dive center for the dive briefing. The divemaster will give you an orientation into the dive center and dive site. Your rental equipment is chosen and we gear up. After a short boat ride we reach Pescador Island. The island rises from the sea floor about 300 meters below. Because of the currents we usually start the dive at the south end of the islands.
We descend into the coral gardens on the reef top, carefully adjusting our buoyancy. The reef top ends at a dramatic drop off, a wall dropping into an abyss. There might be current, so be careful to stay together and close to the guide. We dive over the overhanging drop-off and start drifting along the wall. Enjoy the hard and soft corals of the wall but keep checking the blue water. Pelagic life often frequents the deep blue where some school of jacks or barracuda sometimes swim around. If you are lucky some white tip sharks or even a whale shark pass by. At the west side of the island you will find a cavern, like a funnel in the island. It starts at 18 meters and ends in about 40 meters. This is called the Pescador Cathedral and is truly awe-inspiring. There is sort of a bridge with swim-throughs at the cathedral. The dive ends at the reef top in a coral garden. Good chance of seeing turtles here. Back at the dive shop the divemasters will take care of your equipment. They will also help you with logging your dive into your logbook. And you have the opportunity to sign up for another dive if you like to.
