Start your day off right! This is the boat that Oahu certified divers are trying to get on! Our daily early morning boat charter explores one deep site (usually a wreck) and one shallow reef site. Get a good feel for all that the island has to offer with stunning views above and below the surface!
Divers meet Aaron's Dive Shop staff at Maunalua Bay Beach Park at the boat ramp 15 minutes before the charter begins. Staff will get you checked in, get you any gear you need, and you'll have the opportunity to gage your tanks if you requested Enriched Air.
Staff will load the boat and get everyone's gear set up. Then divers will board the boat. The captain will give a safety briefing for the boat before departing.
As you pull away from the beach park, take in the gorgeous views. Diamond Head is silhouetted to the right. The Hanauma Bay ridge and Koko Head are to the right. And the lush Ko'olau mountain range complete the panoramic vista.
As you approach the first dive site, your dive guide will brief you on the dive.
1st Dive: Deep site*, about 80′-120′
The deep dive is full of possibilities with an abundance of dive site options - wrecks, caves, walls, drift dives. Typically, because of conditions and diver abilities the first dive will be a wreck dive.
Explore the depths of the site and unearth the secrets of a wreck! As your dive guide leads you around the wreck, take in the dramatic landscape. Keep an eye out for sharks, rays, turtles and monk seals as they cruise by. Be on the look out for nudibranchs, eels, frogfish, shrimp and more small sneaky sea life.
After a brief surface interval, your dive guide will brief you on the second dive site.
2nd Dive: Shallow reef dive*, about 30′-50′
Your shallow reef dive is teeming with possibilities! With many reef sites to choose from, the options are vast! Hawaii shallow reef sites are famous for their turtle sitings! Especially at turtle cleaning stations. Not to mention the abundance of sea life that inhabit the crevices of the reef! Dive slow and steady along these reef systems so you don't miss the unique 'locals'. Stick with your guide as they will be sure to show you some hidden gems!
After finishing your second dive, staff will break down your gear and put it away. A hot water hose is available to rinse off after your dive. Staff will bring around a hot lavender towel as well to help you feel refreshed after the salt water. You can sit back, enjoy the 360 views of Maunalua Bay and eat some fresh-cut pineapple. Soon you will make it back to the boat launch where staff will unload your gear for you.
*Our dive sites are chosen the day of depending on conditions, diver abilities, and safety.
