PADI 5 Star Dive Center

Scuba Libre started its adventure in 1998 by opening its first dive shop in Playa del Carmen. Thanks to the success of the first dive center, in 2000 they opened a second location within the premises of Sandos Caracol Eco Resort enabling them to expand their offerings to include fishing trips and water sports. Most recently in 2012, they expanded to a third base at the Sandos Playacar Resort. All located on the beach in the 3 dive shops they offer diving, snorkeling, fishing, sailing, kayaking and much more.

What to expect


Cenote ZAPOTE is located on the “Ruta de los Cenotes” the old road from Puerto Morelos to Valladolid and must be the world’s weirdest dive site.

Suitable ONLY for EXPERIENCED ADVANCED DIVERS the tour provide 2 dives.

The first in the CENOTE ZAPOTE is a deep dive that will show you landscapes and structures out of the ordinary.

From the surface this enticing sinkhole loaded with crystal clear water and lush plants, reveals nothing of the mind-blowing formations called Hell’s Bells found within.

The underwater cavern of Cenote Zapote is much bigger than you might believe from the surface. The entrance shaft pinches in at 21 m before ballooning out into a spectacular room that undercuts the rock. An incredible decoration of stalactites up to two meters long, open conically, are hollow and have round, elliptical or horseshoe-shaped cross-sections. Unique underwater structures that the scientists are still studying.

The second dive will be in the CENOTE MARAVILLA: it is an almost classically-shaped example of the sinkholes you will find on the Yucatan Peninsula.

Known for its rock formations of bell-shaped stalactites, for one of the most impressive light shows offered by the cenote and for the thickness of the hydrogen sulfide cloud layer, Maravilla is a deep cenote suitable ONLY for EXPERIENCED ADVANCED DIVERS

NOTE -  This is a trip for at least two divers: if there is only 1 diver there will be an extra 50 usd to pay before the tour starts.

How to get there

From the 5th avenue turn in the 4th street down to the beach. Scuba Libre is on the left side of the street just 50 mt from the beach. NOTE: If you are staying at Sandos Caracol or Playacar the meeting will be at the Scuba Libre dive center located on the Sandos beach
