Calipso has been entirely renovated, this beautiful vessel is set to begin operations in August 2019.
Stripped, extended and rebuilt with all new systems: electrical, plumbing, engines, generators, compressors, Nitrox, all interior spaces and, of course, the new dive deck, a complete rebuild. Everything is new.
Calipso has four decks, including a sun deck with a Jacuzzi for sun lovers and those who wish to enjoy the scenery. The spacious salon has a large flat screen TV for briefings and movies, plus a comfortable dining area. There is a fantastic 550 sq.ft. dive deck with individual dive stations complete with storage, 2 tank slots each, a camera table, recharging stations and a camera rinse tank. Along the aft of the dive deck are four hot water showers and a bathroom. There is also a lower deck platform.
Professionalism, expertise, friendliness and environmental responsibility are central to Calipso's values. Calipso produces its own fresh water through reverse osmosis desalinization units that are free of R-12 gas, so they can offset their carbon emissions. They have a brand new air/nitrox filling station. Calipso is also the only liveaboard in Galapagos with wi-fi for free.
There are 8 cabins accommodating 16 divers all together. Six cabins are upper deck doubles with large windows and two cabins with main deck doubles. All cabins can be converted to offer one large bed if desired. Cabins have climate control, TVs, hair dryers, closets and en-suite bathrooms. You won't find any dated wooden interiors here - it's all modern, fresh and clean design.
All meals, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the cruise are included. Beer, wine and liquor are available for an extra charge. For any special dietary requests, such as vegetarianism or allergies, please inform the boat prior to arrival.
Great attention was given to safety on board: sprinkler system throughout the ship which is activated by smoke or temperature; emergency lighting system in all cabins and all interior spaces; a large monitor in the bridge which shows the views of security cameras mounted onboard in all common spaces and a an independent safety monitor administrator who boards once a month to inspect and make airport of all safety equipment.
