Description

The Humboldt Explorer will take divers to experience an unparalleled world of beauty, wonder and marine life, known only in the historical Galapagos Islands

The Humboldt Explorer is one of Galapagos’s premier liveaboards in the Galapagos Archipelagos. Guests will dive with Sea Lions, Turtles, Hammerheads, White-tip Sharks, Dolphins, Whale Sharks, Manta Rays, Galapagos Sharks, and huge schools of Eagle and Golden Rays. Island excursions will reveal the historical flora, fauna and island life treasures documented by none other than Charles Darwin.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

The 111.5 ft (34 meters) Humboldt Explorer provides guests with exceptional amenities. Humboldt Explorer accommodates 16 passengers in 8 air-conditioned Double cabins on the Main and Lower Decks. All cabins are air-conditioned and have an ocean view, TV/ DVD, hot water, private bathrooms and showers. All rooms except rooms 3 & 4 (forward below decks) can be converted to either one Queen bed or two Twin beds. Linen including sheets, towels, comforters and dive towels are provided.

Part of the allure of the Humboldt Explorer’s charm is the amazing life above and below the water.

Charles Darwin's work concentrated largely on these rare terrestrial ecosystems, which abound with flora and fauna unique to the archipelago. Take the rare opportunity to visit sights unknown to most of world and have your camera ready to document a trip of a lifetime.

When not engaged in exceptional diving, guests aboard the Humboldt Explorer will relax in luxury and comfort. A partially covered Sundeck with Jacuzzi and ample seating areas is perfect to unwind and discuss the day’s dives.  For those wanting a more intimate setting, guests can recline in the spacious Salon including a Lounge area and watch a movie or listen to music on the entertainment system.

The Humboldt Explorer spares no expense in treating guests to good quality food. Divers will not go hungry with 3 meals a day as well as plentiful snacks between dives.  Beverages including alcohol are available. Premium alcohol is available at a fee. Guests can share photos and experiences over a drink at the Sun Deck Level Bar.

What to bring (Soft luggage for easy storage and very casual attire)

  • Packing for a liveaboard trip is much easier than packing for a land-based vacation. The climate doesn't require much more than shorts, T-shirts, and swimsuits though at sea the winds can be cold and jackets are often necessary.
  • Soft luggage is recommended as it takes up very little space when empty.
  • Sun screens, sunglasses, a visor, raincoat, lightweight sweater or jacket, long sleeved shirt, backpack, tevas and a hat are recommended.
  • Guests traveling through Quito who are interested in day tours may wish to bring some items of clothing for slightly cooler temperatures and good walking shoes.
  • Please remember that the Galapagos Islands straddle the Equator and the sun can be very strong at times. For this reason please make sure you have sufficient strength sunscreen.
  • In case of rough weather or if you have a tendency towards seasickness, come prepared with motion sickness medications or Transderm patches from your doctor.
  • If you have favorite CD's or DVD's, feel free to bring them.
