Explore the Hidden Gems of Papua New Guinea Aboard MV Oceania
MV Oceania is a 27-meter catamaran designed for 16 guests, offering a luxurious dive experience in Papua New Guinea. Departing from Walindi Plantation Resort in the Bismarck Sea, the vessel explores Kimbe Bay, the Witu Islands, and Fathers Reefs.
Dive into a range of sites including vibrant coral gardens, dramatic sea mounts, reef walls, arches, and muck diving hotspots. With up to 4 dives a day, a spacious sun deck, and a relaxing lounge area, MV Oceania provides comfort and ample bottom time. The pristine reefs and seamounts of the Bismarck Sea offer encounters with abundant fish life, while the Coral Triangle's marine biodiversity includes vibrant tropical fish, crustaceans, and invertebrates. Milne Bay’s muck diving sites are famous for rare critters like flamboyant cuttlefish, pygmy seahorses, and diverse nudibranchs.
Kimbe Bay is known for its exceptionally healthy corals, and Fathers Reefs are teeming with pelagic species like barracuda, tuna, and jacks. The Witu Islands feature stunning volcanic swim-throughs and arches. While hammerhead and silver tip shark sightings are possible, they are not guaranteed.
The vessel is equipped with modern navigational and safety equipment, large water and fuel tanks, and air-conditioning in all areas. Custom-built cabins offer ample storage, individually controlled air-conditioning, and en-suite facilities. Communal areas include a dining area, dive deck, and upper sun deck.
Meals on board blend Western and Asian cuisines, featuring generous portions of locally sourced seafood, beef, fruit, and vegetables. Dietary requests are accommodated with advance notice.
MV Oceania is ideal for divers and photographers seeking a complete PNG dive experience, combining excellent service and meals with ample dive time. Non-divers and snorkelers are welcome, though the dive-focused itinerary means most sites are not suitable for snorkeling due to their depth. The crew is skilled in spotting elusive critters, enhancing your dive adventure. The vessel also offers exploratory trips to rarely dived areas of PNG and supports local employment as part of the Walindi and FeBrina family, with membership in the Papua New Guinea Divers Association.
Visibility ranges from 80-150 ft with water temperatures between 85-90°F. Peak diving seasons are April to June and September to November.
