Step aboard The Charismatic Junk and spend your liveaboard diving holiday visiting some of the most fantastic dive sites in Thailand
The liveaboard vessel, The Junk, was established in 1962 and refurbished in 1998. For the Dive Safari Adventurer who wants to experience a truly unique yacht and who has a love for sailing and diving, this will be the ultimate dive vacation. The small group accommodation offers an intimate setting while visiting the exquisite dive sites of Thailand and its incredibly vibrant corals, large pelagics and biodiversity.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Junk - June Hong Chian Lee Liveaboard was part of a small merchant fleet that traded up and down the coastline from Burma to Malaysia from the 1960’s - 80’s. In 1997 The Junk underwent a complete renovation and this 33m authentic sailing vessel was turned in to an amazing dive liveaboard adventure that cruises for most of the year.
The Junk has her own claim to fame and has been used in several films, including James Bond’s ‘The Man With The Golden Gun’ and the ‘Swiss Family Robinson’.
The Junk liveaboard features 12 experienced and friendly English and Thai speaking crew members. 18 guests can be comfortably accomodated in the 6 air-conditioned cabins all with en-suite bathrooms. Our liveaboard junk has been completely renovated and boasts 2 private double bed cabins, 2 three berth cabins (can be sold as so called Shared Twins and can also be turned into a Private Double Bed) and 2 four-berth cabins (which are bunks but can also be sold as Shared Twin). All our cabins are fully air-conditioned and have their own hot water shower and toilet en-suite.
Aboard the liveaboard Junk, meal times are taken very seriously
The Junk liveaboard has made it their mission for you to experience as many different dishes as possible within the week. The main chef of The Junk, June Hong Chian Lee, aims to never let guests go hungry whilst aboard this vessel. This liveaboard even does breakfast twice! After a simple breakfast before the first dive then there is the Full Monty featuring eggs, bread, bacon, ham, fried beans, yogurt, pancakes, warm croissants, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. Rice soup is offered for a traditional Asian breakfast. Next, lunch is an Asian affair with many kinds of rice and noodles as well as vegetables and fresh salads. Dinner offers seafood, meats and vegetarian dishes and is usually served around 18:00 before the Night Dive. Dinner consists of Asian dishes, Western power meals including Italian pasta, Pork, Steak and Fries, Mexican food or Goulash and Potatoes. Snacks between meals are always available: cookies in a jar, donuts, banana cake, cheese cake, custard, fruits in heavy syrup, and nuts to go with the after-dive drink from the Bar.
The air-conditioned salon has a full entertainment system with TV/DVD player with movies and a library, and is a great place to relax. Guests can tan or take a nap on the shaded sun-deck which offers amazing views. For more adventurous between dive activities, guests may go snorkeling or take exciting shore excursions to exotic islands. After diving, visit the Bar to recap the wonderful day’s diving.
