Liveaboard diving in Ecuador is focused almost entirely around the Galapagos Islands. Here you’ll find some of the most diverse wildlife in the world, including a number of endemic species. Darwin and Wolf Islands in the north are largely considered to have the best dive sites and are only reachable by liveaboard. Around these islands, you’ll find whale sharks, manta rays, penguins and more. Because currents make diving difficult, an intermediate level is recommended. The entire area is a marine protected zone, and only a few diving boats are allowed to visit the remote sites. Because of the number of dive sites to visit, most diving cruises last between 7 and 10 days, and the best time to dive in the Galapagos is from June to November.
