In advance of your travels, we can send you the latest version of the PADI online Touch eLearning Manual, so that you can start learning all about the theory behind scuba diving right away.
When you come to Mauritius, we will arrange for you to come to our dive centre, where we will complete some simple paperwork and a Quick Review, to ensure there are no gaps in your understanding and knowledge of the theory, techniques, terminology and safety procedures in scuba diving.
From here, your Instructor will help you select the right equipment from our top of the range selection. Well-fitting equipment will help you feel comfortable and confident in the water.
Now you are almost ready to jump in the pool for your Confined Water training! The skills development training in our purpose-built pool will help you develop and practice a thorough understanding of safe and efficient equipment assembly, pre-dive safety checks, dive planning and how to dive using the buddy system.
Your Instructor will demonstrate all of the skills required to become a competent and safe scuba diver. They will describe and demonstrate how each skill will work above water, followed by a demonstration underwater, culminating in you practising the skill in the water, to master it.
When you have worked through five Confined Water sessions, we will plan your Open Water Dives! We will create and work to a schedule that works for you, and usually run the four open water dives over two days. Here, you will take your first magical breath underwater, and experienced the 'weightlessness' sensation of scuba diving, whilst falling in love with the underwater world.
During your dives, your Instructor will be extremely close by, and will ask you to perform and execute various skills above and below the surface, to ensure that you're a safe and competent scuba diver. Most skills will be done at the beginning of the dive, to leave the rest for exploring underwater!
Your first two dives will be down to a maximum of 12m, while your third and fourth dives can be down to a maximum of 18m.
When your Instructor is confident that you have mastered the skills and techniques required, your Instructor will certify you as a PADI Open Water Diver, able to dive anywhere in the world down to 18 metres!
