Highlights of Iceland (Icelandair Hotels) offers diving and snorkeling in Iceland's best dive sites, as well as epic on-land sightseeing.
Day One
Your trip begins in Reykjavik where you'll dive Daviosgja, a spectacular ravine located just off the beaten path on the edge of the Arctic char's protected spawning grounds. After this extended dive, you'll make your way up north to spend two nights in the lovely Icelandair Hotel in Akureyri.
Day Two
On your second day you'll dive the majestic Strytan, a towering 55 meter hydro-thermal chimney, before heading to nearby Aaenarnesstrytur - one of the best places to see big crowds of Atlantic wolffish.
Day Three
The following day, you'll enjoy a scenic drive from your hotel to Nesgja - a shallow but beautiful dive site - stopping on the way to see the 'waterfall of the gods' and a chance to spot Icelandic puffin. After diving, you'll continue to a geothermal river for a one-of-a-kind snorkeling experience. You'll be mesmerized by the dancing volcanic sands and multicoloured sediments leaping from the bottom. Heated water erupts from below the bottom causing beautiful bubbling sand pools and ripples in the riverbed while you drift along.
Before heading to your hotel in Myvatn, you'll move onto the famous Diamond Circle, which includes a stop at Europe's most powerful waterfall and a stop at the Namafjall geothermal area, where you'll walk around smoking fumaroles and boiling mud pots, surrounded by multicolored sulfur crystals. Your daylond adventure will end at the Myvatn Nature Baths, where you can relax in the alkaline bathing lagoon, taking in the amazing scenery. You'll spend the night at Icelandair Hotel Myvatn.
Day Four
Today you'll be back diving in Eyjafjorour fjord, where you'll aim for either the French Gardens or The Wall, both of which are amazing geological structures with an abundance of marine life; red fish, lump suckers, wolffish; and coloful displays on anemones and pink algae. After the dive, you'll spend the night in Reykjavik city at Icelandair Hotel Marina in the popular harbour.
Day Five
On your final day of the tour, you'll leave early in the morning for Iceland's ultimate dive site, Silfra! This famous fissure is the exact location where two continental plates divide - at one point during the dive you can touch the walls of each side. The glacial water here has been filtered through basaltic lava rock, meaning Silfra's underwater visibility unparalleled by any other dive site on the planet. Finally, you'll drive to the Golden Circle, with stops at the geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss, the most photographed waterfall in Iceland.
