Travel Resources

Indonesia has introduced a health check requirement to enter the country.

This is related to the MPox virus.

Please see the below link for more information and the steps that you will need to take.

It is a simple questionnaire which generates a QR code which you should screen shot and save as you need to show to an official on arrival into Indonesia

Please, complete this after check in from your own country (or whichever country you are travelling to Indonesia from) as it requires your flight seat number.

We need to come again
We need to come again
We booked last minute and were lucky to get one of the last rooms. Beautiful view from the room with direct view to the ocean.. this was exactly what we were hoping for. We didn’t dive but the snorkeling at the house reef is the best we ever had… better than Maldives! My daughter saw turtles and one shark for the first time! The restaurant is busy but if you plan to go in first it will be ok. The resort is facing the sunset so every night with a cocktail on tbe beach it’s the best way to end the day ….. thank you to Alex the manager for always being available and the lovely girl at the bar !!!

Memorable dives in a corner of paradise
Memorable dives in a corner of paradise
I booked the resort and their liveaboard in Komodo. I wanted to dive a lot with the liveaboard and then take some peace and quiet. Great experience both on the boat and at the resort. The dive guides were great, everything was always done on time and I didn’t even have to do anything to move from the boat to the island… I was treated like a king. The resort is more rustic compared to their liveaboard but it fits the peaceful island vibe. Weather was tricky but the people managed it well. Food was great both on the liveaboard and at the resort and it was good the food was different also, good for a change after a week of liveaboard. Special thanks to all everyone for making me feel like special. Top class service from picking me up from the airport to dropping me back off and saying goodbye.

Surprisingly good
Surprisingly good
We stayed at the resort this past June and we had a blast! We came off from their live aboard and wanted to relax a bit before going back to China. The food was amazing and surprising for an island in the middle of the ocean. My kids loved the beach and the snorkeling... so many things to see. If we come back next time we will stay at the resort. It’s more fun for families

A Tired Resort
A Tired Resort
This is a tired resort for people who want to dive and explore without doing a live aboard. Unfortunately for us, we thought it would work. The live aboard, as much as I oppose them, is the only way to see Komodo Island diving. The Arenui is the best as we've done another, too. The room is very moldy, and we are allergic to mold. Consequently, my husband was ill, and it was difficult to dive. They have bottles for water and 2 glasses which weren't washed daily. That in itself is bothersome. The cleaning of the room basically meant the floor was swept and the towels sometimes changed. The counter in the bathroom is so scared and dirty. The facets leak. The food has no flavor. I had the spaghetti pomodoro each night and there is no garlic, onion, basil, salt-NOTHING! They offer certain food choices, but were out of many of them. Ellen took care of us for breakfast and lunch. She has a beautiful smile and speaks good English. She is studying hard on her own to improve her skills with language. I applaud her and her care for her customers. The help in the restaurant is basically excellent. The basic understanding of English is minimal. It should be taught by someone there. They pretend to understand, but don't. There was no wooden walk way to our room. It was sand and more sand. We had to wash our feet before entering to go up the wooden stairs. Yes, it's dangerous as there is no rubber to prevent a fall. Wood is slick when wet. Alex was very helpful, too and his English is excellent. He was our go to contact to get anything done. We missed our flight to Denver because of weather. During the chaos of trying to re-book flights they were messaging that we had to let them know 31 days in advance for a refund. We hadn't even asked! I was offended by that. The resort is not cheap either. In fact, it is overpriced for the lack of quality. The Neptune Dive Center needs to be reviewed and must be done here unfortunately. We arrived after a 4-day trip with 2 delays. It was quite an expense from the US. We also missed 2 days at the resort and diving. We sent the center our passports, so they knew our ages and were doing WhatsApp with them. We checked into the center and filled out the paperwork. Sarah, one of the mangers, came to our room with Alex and told us we couldn't dive! We had a heated discussion for over 20 minutes. Finally, I demanded we speak to the owner. Another 5 minutes of discussion ensued. My husband spoke with him for over 20 minutes, and he agreed if we signed our lives away, we could dive. We'd had 1952 dives at this point. My husband has a pacemaker, but I had an e-mail from our doctor wishing us a good time diving in Komodo. It is age discrimination I believe. The check out dive we pay for, and the reef is dying from all the new divers. They brought in a free-lance diver for us. I believe because of potential liability. He was a hot dog. We insisted on diving with a competent diver. Finally, we were with a Dutch man who was excellent. The "hot dog" looked at him at one point and said, "It's unusual for someone so fat to be a good diver!" I couldn't believe he said it and could see the hurt in the man's eyes. On one of the last dives with him he left the 3 of us to our own wiles. We had a marvelous time without him. Their boats are very old and tired. The ladder is not that safe in heavy seas as it bounces. The trip to the North on the speed boat was a disaster. It should accommodate only 4 divers with the dive masters and equipment. They put 7 divers on the boat. 2 tanks fell and one barely missed my foot. We were assured there was muck diving. On the final day they said it would be. We went by the "tugboat" to Rinca Island. It took over an hour to arrive. The water was 78 degrees. It was beyond freezing, and it wasn't a muck dive. I would never have gone had I known. The towels are microfiber to clean you TV. I've never been on a boat without a real towel. There is NO facility for cameras. We had no idea. We had to carry it from our room and do all of the work on it there. I have a large camera-Sony with Aquatica Housing and Backscatter strobes. It is heavy and needs attention always after diving. They put inexperienced divers with us when they said it would never happen in their information. They had NO NITROX for 7 of the dives which contributed to some of the problems. Air is not good. Our gear was to be cleaned. They basically hosed it down and put it in crates. It was soaking wet! He carried it up the stairs and through our room to the patio to dry. I had to wipe up the water and sand so we wouldn't fall. We spent over 30 minutes wringing out the wetsuits and emptying the water from the regulators and BCDs. This has NEVER happened to us at any of the myriad number of places we've been. This is not for a long-term stay. It is more about them making money on trips to see the dragons and the beaches. They wanted us mainly to snorkel.

 A Paradise with Deep Contradictions
A Paradise with Deep Contradictions
The dive center here is world-class — professional, well-equipped, and located in one of the most spectacular marine environments on the planet. This is the main reason to come, and it delivers. The setting is breathtaking, and the excursions offer unforgettable experiences. The resort itself is basic but functional. It’s more of a dive camp than a true resort, and that’s fine — as long as you know what to expect. There’s no luxury, no curated design, and no pretense of offering it. Beds are comfortable, everything works, and the natural surroundings are the real draw. However, the deeper you look, the more unsettling the experience becomes. The staff are kind, hardworking, and the heart of the operation — yet their living conditions are extremely poor. After seeing the remote, trash-filled campsite they walk to and from multiple times a day, often via an unsafe trail over rocks and hills, it fundamentally changes your experience on the island. It’s hard to enjoy your stay knowing that those making it possible live in such undignified conditions. Unfortunately, the management does not appear to have experience in hospitality or people care. The food is a consistent low point: small portions, outdated menus, and many items permanently “out of stock.” After a day of three dives, you need nourishing meals — not meals that leave you hungry. The overall service lacks warmth, energy, and proper oversight. After we left, we also heard reports of guests and staff getting sick from the food — which is alarming. This resort has incredible potential, and it’s clear it may have once lived up to that. Today, the diving still shines — but the human and service elements are far behind. Until the new owners invest in proper staff housing, trained kitchen staff, and real hospitality management, the imbalance between what this place could be and what it is will continue to grow — and that’s a real shame.
